Restore and Build Kenya (RBK) party presidential aspirant James Ole Kiyiapi has called on Kenyans to seek unity ahead of elections so as to assure the country of economic growth and prosperity.
Speaking in Meru town where he met leaders from Meru County to popularize his party and sell his agenda, Kiyiapi asserted that Kenyans must agree to elect capable leaders who will empower Kenyans to create wealth.
“What this country needs are capable leaders who can manage our resources to eradicate poverty. Kenyans should agree on the kind of leaders they want to take over leadership positions. We need to do away with those who use their positions to benefit themselves at the expense of voters,” Prof Kiyiapi said.
The RBK flag bearer noted that the country is endowed with numerous resources but corruption has hindered the common Mwananchi from benefitting.
“Kenya is blessed with a lot of resources which can help uplift the lives of all Kenyans. But bad leadership has made these resources to be of little help to Kenyans. Kenyans need to learn from the past and choose the right leaders,” he said.
Prof Kiyiapi accused the government of failing to stump out corruption which he attributed to lack of will among those in power.
“Voters should make the right decision this time round and Kenyans must make leaders more accountable. We should stop blame games and start questioning our leaders when they go wrong. Without zeal from the public, this country will not win the war against corruption,” he added.
The former permanent Secretary said if elected his government will embark on transformation of the education and transport systems as well as ensuring food security in all parts of the country.
“I will ensure that the economy of this country grows to benefit all Kenyans. RBK will bring about good governance to serve all Kenyans irrespective of their ethnicity or economic status. We will empower the youth to be job creators because there are job opportunities are not enough,” Kiyiapi remarked.
He said his track record as a permanent secretary in various ministries shows that he is capable of running the country as the president and warned Kenyans against being compromised with money by aspirants.
Prof. Kiyiapi said he is best placed to take over the presidency next year.
